Three studies in proportion, grain and everyday ritual. Open a piece to explore its construction, dimensions and design decisions.

The gathering table

DESIGN STUDY 01 / European oak · dining

HearthThe gathering table

Two curved trestles support a generous solid-oak top. The undercut edge keeps its profile light; the broad foot gives the room a quiet centre.

220 × 95 × 75 cm

Construction & design notes

A breadboard-style end is deliberately avoided here: the uninterrupted grain runs the full length. Slotted tabletop fixings would allow seasonal movement across the width.

The design starts with seating and legroom, then works back to the base. A full-size mock-up would check knee clearance before the final joinery.

The rhythm cabinet

DESIGN STUDY 02 / Walnut · storage

CadenceThe rhythm cabinet

A repeating fluted front changes with the daylight. Its rhythm continues across four doors, while the rounded frame softens the long silhouette.

180 × 44 × 76 cm

Construction & design notes

A veneered stable core would suit the broad doors; solid walnut edges protect their most handled surfaces. Adjustable concealed hinges would let the gaps be tuned precisely.

The inside is organised around two adjustable shelves. Ventilation, cable openings and shelf loads belong in the final brief if it is used for media equipment.

The sculptural vessel

DESIGN STUDY 03 / Walnut · carved object

FoldThe sculptural vessel

An open form that holds light rather than water. The continuous curve turns the grain into a line that can be followed around the object.

32 × 18 × 42 cm

Construction & design notes

Carved from a carefully selected blank, the narrowest sections need a grain direction that supports them. Generous transitions avoid abrupt weak points.

This is a decorative concept, not a food-safe or watertight vessel. The final form would be refined around the actual timber and its checks or knots.

CADENCE / INSIDE THE RHYTHM

A quieter kind of storage.

Four doors frame two proposed interior bays. Two adjustable shelves, one in each bay, divide the height. The diagram reveals the layout; it does not specify hidden hardware or certified loads.

Front study

Before manufacture: confirm hinge clearances, shelf spans, anti-tip requirements and ventilation where appropriate.
